I really enjoyed this story. I like how you really developed the character of "Mercy Lewis". I noticed that chapter 4 was simply the stnda alone story retitlled. However, I noticed that there were inconsistencies between it and the other chapters. For example, in chapter 4 Mercy says her first master sold her to the ship captain, but in chapter 2, he loses her to the Pirate captain in a card game.

I don't see a difference between selling her and losing her in the card game. By offering her as a stake, he knew what the risk and was willing to let her go. If he wanted to keep her, he never would have put her ownership on the line.
